The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is set to start either from late March or early April and the fans can not wait anymore to cheer for their favourite stars and teams. To make the league more extravagant, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has added two new teams; Ahmedabad and Lucknow, but the venue fuss is still debatable with every day taking the authorities close to IPL 2022.
Due to the COVID, BCCI conducted IPL 2020 entirely in the UAE. Despite their wishes to host the next season in India, they had to drag the second half in UAE amidst poor health conditions in India.
Willing to stay in India despite the COVID, the BCCI is preparing plan B in regards. Sourav Ganguly, the president of the board has announced that IPL 2022 is likely to be conducted in Maharashtra. He stated,
It will be held in India this year, until and unless COVID-19 hits the roof. As far as venues are concerned, we are looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra – Mumbai, and Pune. We will take a call on the venues for the knockout stages later,”
It must be noted that IPL 2022 auction is set to take place on 12th and 13th February when the ten franchises will make full use of the available resources.
