The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to earn a hefty revenue of INR 800 Crore from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) title and sponsorships. This year, the cash-rich league bid farewell to Vivo, and signed a new contract for title sponsor with Tata, to be called as 'Tata IPL'. Also, nine well-known brands have been named as sponsors including two new associate brands.
The BCCI also has partnered with Swaggy Instamart and Rupay for central sponsorship for INR 44 and 42 Crores respectively. The secretary of the board, Jay Shah is happy to see the massive revenue to be generated this year. He denied commenting on the exact figures but it has been learnt the title sponsor alone will pay INR 335 Crore each year. It must be noted the revenue of INR 800 Crore is the highest-ever in the 15-year old history of IPL.
No doubt, IPL has gained fame over all the world and is the money-richest cricket league owned by the richest cricket board. Cricketers from different countries prefer playing the extravaganza over their country cricket to make some extra pounds.
It must be noted the IPL 2022 kick-starts from 26th March and will last till 29th May across Maharashtra's stadiums. The league's opener will be played between the title defenders Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
