Former Australian head coach, Justin Langer is looking forward to joining the coaching post in the England Cricket Team. He freed himself from national team duties last month post the Ashes 2021-22 and is likely to succeed England's Chris Silverwood as a new head coach.
It must be noted that although England thrashed away the arch-rivals Australia in the Ashes Test series by 4-0, Langer chose to step down after four years of the deal completed. He denied the short-term contract renewal and resigned with immediate effect. He took over Darren Lahmen in 2018 after the ball-tampering scandal.
On the other hand, since England had a horror Ashes defeat, Silverwood parted ways with the team in early February. He was appointed for the role back in 2019. ECB, now on the hunt for a new coach, is likely to sign a contract with Langer.
Notably, the 51-year old has star-studded coaching experience. If the reports are true, he will serve ECB as a full-time coach. It is pertinent to mention that Paul Collingwood is currently serving as three lion's interim head coach.
