The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed Pakistan's veteran batter Younis Khan as the batting consultant. One of Pakistan's modern batting greats has been hired on a short-term basis, but the ACB will opt for contract renewal for a defined tenure if Younis inspires with his performance.
Younis will join Afghanistan's team at the UAE camp, to prepare for the forthcoming national duties. ACB understands the batter has monument experience in international cricket, which can favour Afghanistan Cricket.
Apart from Younis, the ACB has lately appointed Umar Gul as a bowling consultant. Like Younis, Gul has been contracted for a short-term basis. In a statement, the board stated,
"Younis Khan and Umar Gul have rich experience of international cricket and I am sure they will help our boys overcome the concerns they have got in the batting and bowling departments,"
The Pakistani duo is set to join the team in Abu Dhabi for a 15-day stint, working with an extended squad of 25 at a training and preparatory camp.
