The ongoing 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) is going on across the four venues of the two cities, Maharashtra-Mumbai, and Pune. After the season's round-robing stage's schedule was announced, the venues for the knockout matches were to be named. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Ahmedabad and Kolkata to host the playoffs, rejecting the rumours mentioning Lucknow as the possible venue to host IPL 2022 playoffs.
Sourav Ganguly, the president of BCCI, while talking to the media, stated that Lucknow although will not host IPL 2022 playoffs, but will entertain the Women's Challenger series at Ekana Stadium. Discussing the possibilities of the crowd, he informed 100% seating capacity will be allowed during the playoffs and the final.
“As far as the men’s IPL knock-out stage matches are concerned, it would be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad, with hundred per cent attendance allowed for the matches to be played after the league staged finishes on May 22. The Women’s Challenger series will be held between May 24-28 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium,”
It must be noted that Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 24 and 26 while Qualifier 2 whereas, the final will be encountered at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 27 and 29 respectively.
