The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced to shift the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to Bangladesh amidst Sri Lanka's political, economical, and financial crises. The decision however has not been finalized yet and only will be taken if Sri Lanka gets through the circumstances within a shorter span, which does not logically look possible.
Notably, the Asia Cup 2022 will kick-start on 27th august and will be played till 11th September in Colombo. However, there are higher chances that it will be moved to Bangladesh. The event is revolving just around the corner, and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is yet to confirm its decision on whether or not it can host it.
One of the ACC officials, while talking to the media, clarified that the tournament in no way can be played in the UAE from late August to mid of September. It is pertinent to mention here the last edition already took place in the Arab nation in 2018, witnessing Virat Kohli and his men as the winners.
"Bangladesh is just an option at the moment and the ACC is observing Sri Lanka’s situation before coming to a final decision. UAE is definitely not an option to host matches in late August and early September,”
