New Zealand's cricket commentator and the former bowler, Simon Duoll has asserted that Pakistan's captain Babar Azam is the best player in the world. Duoll finds no match for him and says not everyone can argue about his greatness.
While commentating during the England vs New Zealand 3rd Test, he lauded the Pakistani batter with praises, all that Azam deserves. The ex-fast-bowler reckons Azam as the big one amongst the Big-4.
Notably, Azam is the only batter to occur in the top four rankings in all formats being the world's number 1 T20I and ODI batter, whereas sitting at fourth in the Tests. While Joe Root enjoys the first spot only in Test rankings for batters.
“Not too many can argue that Babar Azam is probably the best player in the world at the moment. As far as batting in that top order is concerned, he is unbelievable. Joe Root has got an argument for that, but when you talk about the Big-4, at the moment, he is the big one.”
Babar will next be seen playing red-ball format versus Sri Lanka in a two-match test series which further gives him a chance for improvement in Test rankings. He has 2851 Test runs in 40 appearances averaging 46. In ODIs and T20Is, Babar has amassed 4442 and 2686 runs respectively in 89 and 74 matches at the averages of 59.2 and 45.5.
