Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria has talked about Virat Kohli after the former Indian captain has been dropped from the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe. Kaneria feels there are chances that he will be dropped from the Asia Cup 2022 squad as well.
While talking on his YouTube channel, the ex-Pakistani cricketer who feels he is ignored due to his religion has a strong feeling that the BCCI is gradually getting rid of Kohli.
Kohli has been out of form for the last some years. He has been struggling to score his 71st international century. Although he has been one of the greatest cricketers, becoming the only one to average 50+ across all formats recently, but his Test average dropped down after back-to-back poor showcases.
If the ex-skipper was named in the ODI squad versus Zimbabwe, he could have a chance to score his 71st international century. But since the board has decided to rest him, many sense that he is no more on BCCI's future plans.
“Virat Kohli should have played in this series. Does BCCI think that he should only feature in major tournaments? But if he fails there, then once again, there would be talks about his lack of form. I think that is an injustice for Virat Kohli,”
“You have to be very clear with how you want to handle him. While he was rested for the entire West Indies tour, he surely should have been there for the Zimbabwe series. He could have found his form in the 50-over games and then played the Asia Cup. But it seems now that he might be dropped for the Asia Cup as well,”
