There have been several speculations regarding Shoaib Malik's retirement after he was dropped from Asia Cup 2022 squad. Malik's last month's appearance on the media clarified that he has the potential to serve Pakistan in two more World Cups. However, he had mentioned that he would retire gracefully if the team no more needs his services.
Considering all current rumours regarding his retirement, Malik's manager has rejected all baseless stories. He has clarified that the veteran all-rounder is fully fit and is set to play for Pakistan in future matches. He also narrated that one should verify the news before publicizing it. He stated,
Attention: For all those asking #ShoaibMalik is not announcing his retirement, he is super fit and available to play for Pakistan. If & when he does you all will get to know. Please verify your resources & avoid spreading baseless rumours

It must be mentioned that Malik was last seen on the field in a T20I match against Bangladesh in 2021. Whereas he last played India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 match in the 50-over format. His unavailability throughout the year might be one of the reasons why the board did not consider him for the event.
