The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Avesh Khan's replacement as one of the best products of the Indian Premier League has reportedly been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022. According to details, Deepak Chahar is likely to replace the bowler in the remainder of the event's stint.
The right-arm fast-medium bowler, who missed India's opening Super 4 encounter versus Pakistan, was sidelined from the specific match because of fever. On catching the high temperature and illness, the bowler will not participate in the remainder of the Asia Cup 2022.
Avesh was part of India's playing XI versus Hong Kong but had a forgettable day conceding 53 runs from four overs and plucking only one wicket. He is not the first Indian to be ruled out of the camp, as the injury-hit team strives its survival in the tournament.
It dates back to Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah's ruling out, followed by Ravindra Jadeja, who is undergoing knee surgery. Jadeja's absence was truly missed by Rohit Sharma's men as India lost the balance versus Pakistan in their match of the Super 4.
The team now hopes that Chahar will fulfil Avesh's slot. Chahar, who missed the IPL 2022, last played a T20I match against West Indies earlier this year. He recovered from the injury and recently played two ODIs against Zimbabwe and will carry on the duties in place of Avesh in the team's remaining Asia Cup 2022 tenure.
India are currently encountering Sri Lanka in their second match of Super 4, and will later meet Afghanistan on 8th September.
