Pakistan Cricket Team's captain Babar Azam has been dropped down to third place in the T20I rankings for batters as the International Cricket Council (ICC) updated its rankings on Wednesday. The right-handed batsman has not enjoyed a wholesome stint throughout the Asia Cup 2022 and could only manage 68 runs in six games.
During the Asia Cup tournament, the batter slid down to the second spot in ICC T20I rankings for batsmen as his counterpart Mohammad Rizwan replaced him as World's number one T20I batter. The wicketkeeping batter is the top run-scorer of Asia Cup 2022, totalling 281 runs from six matches.
Babar is now the third-ranked T20I batter as South Africa's Aiden Markram climbs up to second place. The fans expect a tremendous bounce back from the skipper in the upcoming seven-match T20I series versus England, followed by a tri-series including Bangladesh and New Zealand, and the T20 World Cup 2022 respectively.
The Pakistani skipper has spent most number of days as World's number one T20 batter, surpassing India's Virat Kohli record, who stayed in the spot on and off for 1013 days. Kohli has also shown visible improvement in T20I rankings after regaining his lost form this Asia Cup as he is now the 15th ranked batter in the format.
Mohammad Rizwan remains number one! Babar Azam has been dropped down to number three in ICC rankings for T20 batters after a poor series of runs in AsiaCup!
