Pakistan's frontline pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is unlikely to play the New Zealand tri-series 2022 starting this Friday, October 7th 2022. The bowler, who got injured during July's Galle Test, was sent to London for rehabilitation process during the Asia Cup 2022.
His injury also ruled him out of the Netherlands series before Asia Cup. Shaheen, who has been planning to be in action for the national team, also missed the home T20I series against England. Although he was named in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 squad, bound to play the tri-nation series as well, he is likely to miss the series.
Shaheen, who is recovering under NHPC coach Umar Rashid alongside counterpart Fakhar Zaman, will reach Brisbane on 15th October with Fakhar and Rashid. According to Indian media, the bowler will also miss the team's World Cup opener, scheduled to take place at MCG, on October 24th, against India.
Recently, a source told PCB that both Shaheen and Fakhar are recovering well. There is no statement regarding Fakhar that if or not he will be able to participate in the tri-series.
