The upcoming season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 will not feature a performance by renowned Pakistani singer Ali Sethi. This was confirmed by his father, Najam Sethi, who is the chair of Pakistan Cricket Board’s Management Committee.
Initially, PCB authorities were in talks with the company that produced Ali Sethi's famous Pasoori song and were planning to involve him in the PSL anthem. However, Sethi has decided not to participate due to potential conflict of interest, according to his father.
“This is a sensitive issue,” Najam Sethi said in a press conference. “Look at my position (in the board). Obviously, there will be many who will say this is not right and say it’s a conflict of interest”
He further added, “So there is no need to get involved in this controversy. There are many other talented singers in the country.”
It should be noted that the anthem for PSL season 8 is still in production and will be released soon. The tournament will kick off in Multan on February 13th, with the defending champions Lahore Qalandars taking on Multan Sultans in the opening match.
