Bumrah was previously ruled out of the T20 World Cup in 2022 due to this injury and may also miss the World Test Championship final in June, pending India's qualification.
The medical staff at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru is currently treating Bumrah's case with urgency, as he is yet to fully recover from his lower back injury, which was originally diagnosed as a stress reaction in August of last year. The staff has recommended surgery as an option to address the recurring niggles in his back.
A final decision regarding Bumrah's treatment will be made soon by the BCCI in conjunction with the NCA and Bumrah himself. It is important to consider that the ODI World Cup is scheduled for October-November in India.
